small vs small petite

What's the difference between a small and a small petite? I usually wear size small, but none are available. Will a small petite or medium petite fit better. I'm 5'5", 120 lbs.

I'm really not sure, because usually the petites do run a bit smaller than the misses sizes. However my experience with this particular top would have me suggest you try your regular small in the petite. The neckline got sloppy when I tried this in my larger of two normal sizes. Also, it is blousy, so if the shoulders are okay, I'm thinking you'll like the smaller size.

Good question! I wouldn't go with the small petite--it really is for people with a shorter build. It hits at a higher place on the hips and the arm length and shoulder cut is slightly different. Even the medium petite might be shorter than you'd like. However, if you're looking at sale items, you might go ahead and try the medium petite vs the medium regular (or even get one of each) just to feel the difference on your own body. I'm 5'2" and so I usually go with petite sizes, but if none is available I take a small regular and am usually satisfied (I don't mind if my tees are a little oversized). JJill tees are so comfy and drape so nicely, you should try the other options just to see what the possibilities are!

Our Peruvian Pima Cotton Ballet-Sleeve Crew Neck Tee in Misses’ size Small is designed to fit sizes 6 to 8. The most similar fit to the Misses’ Small will be our Petite size Small, designed to fit sizes 6p to 8p. The Petite size Small has a back length of 23 ¾” (1 ½” shorter than the Misses’ Small), a chest measurement of 33” (½” smaller than the Misses’ Small) and a sweep (around the bottom hem) of 35 ½” (½” smaller than the Misses’ Small).
