The zipper is a great idea, although I am not sure how to utilize the two-way feature. The elliptical hem is not noticeably longer in any place, which I like. When a top (of any kind) hangs low in the front I think it makes one look pregnant, and when it hangs higher, it looks like there was not enough fabric! These plush-feeling velour jackets look terrific over long-sleeved tops, but I have worn them over tanks when I know I am going to be in two different temperature environments. Works fine! This jacket is mostly cotton with some poly and a thinner weight, with a "velvet-y" feel: not heavy or thick pile at all. (Fit-wise, it is on the generous size in my opinion.)

I don't know a technical difference between velour, velvet, and velveteen, but these jackets (and pants) have a smooth, low-nap surface. They do not have a pile; if you brush your hand across the surface, you do not see a reorientation of the fibers. As the jackets are A-line, the stretch is not noticeable. The stretch is noticeable in the pants, and that gives them a smoothness in the derriere but no clinginess in the legs. Hope that helps.
