These are beautiful, high grade leather boots with a stylish but walkable heel. Because they are shaped to hug the calf, they don't work on long legs -- the calf curve is way below where my calf starts so they look baggy. Had high hopes but no one seems to make boots for tall women's longer legs.

I was worried about the fit of this boot, so I asked JJill a question about the length of the shaft. Other reviewers thought the fit was too tight in the calf, and too tall in the shaft. They fit me perfectly!! They are tall, but not uncomfortable. No problem with the height behind the knees. I got them on sale to boot.... no pun intended :)
I am 5'5" and weigh 123 lbs.

The shaft is TALL. One of the Q&As mentioned the shaft length varies with size. I ordered a 7 and am 5'4". The top of the boot is stiff and really, really dug into the back of my knees when I sat down. I couldn't bear that feeling more than half a minute. Just way too tall for me. I have slightly smaller than average calves (apparently) at 13.5" flexed and I felt I was going to zip up my calf into these boots. They fit tightly on the calf, but not at the ankle, leaving a bit of extra leather around the ankle before becoming attractively, if not quite comfortably, snug at the calves. There would be no tucking in with these boots, I don't think.

I have thin legs but my calves are more muscular than most ladies' due to many years of cycling. I can never find attractive tall boots that fit my calves without squeezing them and having to force the zippers up over them. These boots are perfect for me. I wish they came in other colors like burgunday, oxblood, or even gunmetal gray - because I would definitely buy them!

When I first received these boots I tried them on, the calf area is tight and also the instep. I ordered my correct size and don't have a larger than normal calf. So I decided to take the boots to my shoe repair shop to see if they could be stretched. They were stretched and instep is fine but the calf area is still some what tight. I definitely could not wear them with leggings. But I like the look and the sale price, so I will be wearing them with dresses and skirts.

I ordered these boots and was happy with the look of the boots... unfortunately.... I could not zip them over my calf! I was very disappointed because I thought thet would have a little more give in them to stretch...Manufacturers take note... women go to the gym and have strong muscles.... mycalf muscle is defined but its not that big! Help a girl out!

Okay, there were a lot of unhappy reviews for this boot, it made me so hesitant about buying them and I had them in my shopping cart for a long time. When they arrived I was very happy with their appearance, putting them on was the interesting part. As described, they are a tall boot, I like a tall boot but these rub against the back of your knees when you are sitting, not a problem walking... at least not for me. The leather is a bit stiff but I was replacing a stiff leather boot I had for many years, so that doesn't bother me. I have nice healthy calves and was able to zip them up. To combat the rubbing at the back of my knees, I wear a thin boot topper tucked into the top of the boot and turned down which looks like an accent piece, and very attractive, especially when wearing a shorter skirt.
So not everyone is going to like this boot, but I'm satisfied with my purchase, good discounted price. You just have to try it for yourself.

I saw these boot and liked the look of them. I decided to order them because the looked like they would fit the cafe of my legs. Sure enough they did they are so comfortable, I wore them all day and my feet and legs did not get tired. Really I forgot I had on boots. I wish I could get them in dark brown. They are the perfect size.
