This turtleneck isn't going to be a substitute for wool but it looks like a real easy-care fabric for travelling which means it is ideal for layering.

I have given these turtle necks so much use, I am in my second round of buying. I have probably six or more of them (plain and striped), and have returned for a black colored one, as it tends to be the one that gets most use. Contrary to other reviewers, I find these jerseys true to size. The material is indeed thin, as it is meant to be layered, but the quality is good. The colors have not changed much after extensive use. I find myself using them from autumn to spring without a problem.

Love this top.
Fits perfect to size and the neck is nice and snug....not sloppy.

the jersey turtleneck was very thin you could see my bra underneath it. so sorry to say I had to return it.

This top is a nice light fabric for layering. It could be a bit larger in the bust but over all it is a good fit. I'm tall and the length is good for me. Great little turtleneck.
